Training on writing scientific articles for Scopus journals for women scientists takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 March, AKFA University and ERGO Analytics conducted training on writing scientific articles for Scopus journals as part of the joint HIVE project – a laboratory to improve the scientific skills of women scientists in Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by more than 100 women scientists, university professors and graduate students from all over Uzbekistan.

The training covered the key aspects of preparing high-quality scientific research for publication in scientific journals of the Scopus database, such as conducting a review of scientific literature, working with data and structuring a scientific article.

On the example of various journals, opportunities were explored to find new gaps in knowledge that are relevant in the context of the prospects for the development of the economy of Uzbekistan and ongoing socio-economic reforms.

The speakers of the event were:

– Dr. Sedigeh (Nahid) Shakib, Leading Researcher in English Language Teaching and Education. She is currently working as an Associate Professor at AKFA University. Her research interests include corpus linguistics, critical thinking, teacher education, and interdisciplinary research. She has published extensively as an author and co-author of over 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals.

– Senior Analyst at ERGO Arletta Isaeva. Arletta is one of the most published young scientists of Uzbekistan in the Scopus database. Her research focuses on sustainability and quality of life.

Opening the event, Rector of AKFA University Behzod Jalilov noted that today Uzbekistan faces the urgent task of improving the quality of human capital by stimulating science and strengthening the role of the country’s universities in the global academic arena. Universities should become a platform for transforming knowledge into a factor in the economic growth of the national economy. The future goal of the university is to enter THE World University Rankings and become a scientific hub in Central Asia.

Nazi Aripjanova, PR and Communications Manager of Coca Cola, spoke at the event. She noted that it has been proven that a woman who is confident in her rights and opportunities, and who is also able to provide for herself, is the key to a healthy and prosperous society. Women invest a significant part of their income in the health and education of their children and the local economy, which has a positive impact on the entire economy of the country. Support for women, their professional development has always been among the main priorities of the Coca-Cola System in the world. Thus, since 2010, 5by20 has been operating – a global initiative of the Coca-Cola System in the field of gender equality, the main goal of which is to expand economic rights and opportunities, support 5 million women in business by 2020. By 2020, Coca-Cola has supported more than 6 million women around the world. More than 96 countries can be proud of their significant contribution to the goal of the global initiative. We were happy to support the HIVE project, as it opens up new opportunities for our women scientists and not only teaches how to monetize their work, but also helps to make themselves known in the scientific global community. We wish success and prosperity to all those who took part in this project and also take the opportunity to congratulate all the project participants on March 8 and express gratitude for their contribution to the development of science and for the inspiration that you give us with your example.

All participants of the training received certificates of participation and were invited to further participate in trainings and seminars of the HIVE platform.
