Traditional Dish “Sukok Samsa” Registered as a Geographical Indication

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The dish known as “Sukok Samsa,” traditionally prepared in the village of Sukok in Parkent district, Tashkent region, has been officially registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan as a geographical indication.

This unique culinary product is distinguished by the use of natural ingredients, including a rare local variety of spinach called mador, which grows exclusively in the mountainous area of Sukok. The dish is further characterized by a special preparation technique, particularly a unique method of dough kneading, which gives it its distinctive flavor.

The geographical indication registration:

– Confirms that “Sukok Samsa” originates specifically from the Sukok region;
– Provides legal protection for its recipe, quality, and cultural significance;
– Promotes the regional culinary identity at both national and international levels.

The registration was carried out with the support of the Main Department of Justice of the Tashkent region.
