Trading Volume on Uzbekistan’s Stock Exchange Falls by 85% in September to 281.6 Billion Soums
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In September, the total trading volume on the Uzbekistan Stock Exchange (UZSE) amounted to 281.59 billion soums (US$22.92 million), down by 1.66 trillion soums, or 85.49%, compared to September 2024.
The majority of transactions — 211.87 billion soums (US$17.24 million), or 75.24% of the total — involved securities listed on the exchange’s quotation list. The remaining portion of trades was conducted on the organized over-the-counter (OTC) market.
A total of 36,966 transactions were concluded during the month, an increase of 4,242 or 12.96% compared to the same period last year. Of these, 32,160 were in listed shares and 4,806 in OTC securities.
The average daily trading volume stood at 13.41 billion soums (US$1.09 million), with an average of 1,760 transactions per day. The UCI Index rose by 2.65% for the month, closing at 701.05 points.
On the stock market, turnover reached 189.16 billion soums (US$15.39 million), a decrease of 1.67 trillion soums or 90% compared to September 2024. Most of the trading volume — 180.76 billion soums — occurred on the Free of Payment (FoP) platform.
The average daily trading volume on the stock market was 9.01 billion soums (US$732,930), with an average of 1,484 transactions per day. The total market capitalization of shares increased by 8.41 billion soums (3.24%) to 267.93 trillion soums (US$22.20 billion), while the free-float market capitalization reached 4.18 trillion soums (US$346.20 million).
By the end of the month, the exchange’s quotation list included 135 instruments issued by 93 companies.
Trading volume on the corporate bond market amounted to 22.50 billion soums (US$1.83 million), down by 28.12 billion soums or 55.55% compared to September 2024. The average daily turnover in this segment reached 1.07 billion soums (US$87,037), with an average of 47 transactions per day.
The market value of bonds listed on the exchange’s quotation list totaled 1.50 trillion soums (US$124.66 million). By the end of the month, the list included 19 instruments from 11 issuers.
Overall, 154 instruments from 102 issuers were represented in the exchange’s quotation list at the end of September.
On the OTC trading platform, 4,806 transactions were recorded — up 35.08% from the same month last year.
Total OTC trading volume reached 69.71 billion soums (US$5.68 million), marking an increase of 119.56% year-on-year. Transactions involved securities from 101 issuers.
