Tourism and Recreation Zone “Ferghana” with Modern Infrastructure to Be Created in Ferghana District

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A tourism and recreation zone named “Ferghana” is being established in Uzbekistan’s Ferghana District, covering a total area of 2,396 hectares, the press service of the Tourism Committee reported.

The project is being implemented in accordance with a decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and is aimed at developing tourism, utilizing the potential of mountainous areas and creating new jobs. The zone will operate for 30 years with the possibility of further extension.

As part of the project, a full engineering and utilities infrastructure will be built, including electricity supply, drinking water and wastewater systems, internet connectivity and roads. Plans also include the construction of pedestrian and cycling paths, electric vehicle charging stations, helipads, zipline and selfie zones, as well as tourism and service facilities, including retail spaces for souvenirs and food products.

Within the “Vodil” agrotourism cluster, raspberry orchards and tourist service facilities will be created, while in the area of the Central Ferghana Reservoir in Yozyovon District new jobs, raspberry plantations and processing workshops will be established. Modern cable cars, suspension bridges and ziplines are also planned along the Shohimardon–Yordon and Yordon–Dugoba routes.

Special attention is being paid to safety and environmental protection, including riverbank reinforcement, the construction of sewerage networks, gas and electricity supply systems, as well as the installation of mini and micro solar power plants.

The implementation of the project is expected to fully unlock the tourism potential of Ferghana District, create modern infrastructure for visitors, generate new jobs and enhance the region’s investment attractiveness.
