Touch Math Festival kicks-off at IUT
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 July 2018, the Second Touch Math Festival was opened at the Inha University in Tashkent (IUT).
The main purpose of the festival is to show the wonders of mathematics and demonstrate that mathematics is very exciting, and it is interesting and fun to learn and teach it to children.
The festival is designed for students of schools and other educational institutions, teachers of mathematics, as well as all those who love and are interested in mathematics.
A group of math teachers from various educational institutions of South Korea arrived in Uzbekistan. They will present 25 different mathematical booths.
Within three days, the South Korean guests will show various mathematical puzzles, various puzzles, games and excises. In particular, the children will create geometric figures from various materials and solve the tasks. The festival will include various contests for children and lectures of foreign specialists about the mathematics.
The festival participants will have chance to take part in ‘Hour of Code’ campaign. Within it, children can participate in one-hour free lesson on coding basics.
Vice-Rector of Inha University in Tashkent Mr. Turdimurat Tursunmuratov noted: “The leadership of Uzbekistan pays a considerable attention to development of education, including STEM-education. The Touch Math Festival is our contribution to increasing the knowledge of the younger generation. After the festival, I hope that even more children will be engaged in mathematics.”

The event is organized by Inha University in Tashkent, Inha University in the Republic of Korea and the Korean Society of Mathematics Culture Studies for Teachers at the support of the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications, the Ministry of Public Education, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education and Korzinka.uz supermarket chain, as well as Mercury Services.
