Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the current legislation, disabled persons of group 1 and persons accompanying them can use public transport for free, including the metro.

Passengers with limited mobility do not need to enter the platform bypassing the ticket office, turnstiles and station lobbies. This convenience was thought out at the design stage. According to experts (construction customers), based on this, special elevators are installed at metro stations so that people with disabilities can go up from the street directly to the station platform and go down in the same way.

In addition, at the 6th and 7th stations, where the elevator is not envisaged by the project, there are special "lifting tracks" so that people in wheelchairs can easily go up and down the ramp of the stairs with any inclination.

For visually impaired or blind people, special tactile tiles have been laid at the edges of the station platform so that blind people can recognize the barrier signal with a cane.

To ensure the safety of passengers, including people with disabilities, as well as to maintain order at each station, police officers and metro attendants are on duty, who provide an individual approach to citizens with disabilities, i.e. instructions follow. In particular:

- meet at the entrance;

- find out the route of the direction;

- escort to the carriage and put in it;

- inform the dispatcher about this passenger;

- meet at the destination station and escort to the exit.

Moreover, the metro employees are monitoring the category of passengers with disabilities. And in order to avoid misunderstandings, Toshkent Metro asks to seek help from the employees of the stations. We emphasize once again that elevators are intended only for the low-mobility category of passengers; for people who do not belong to this category, they cannot be used.

The management of Toshkent Metro attentively listens to the public, publications in the media and comments on social networks, takes them into account and does everything possible to improve the quality of services in the metro.
