Topical issues on the international agenda within the framework of the Commonwealth were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 October 2022, a regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Astana under the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event was attended by the heads of the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.

During the meeting, topical issues on the international agenda and interaction within the Commonwealth were discussed.

The draft documents submitted for consideration by the Council of Heads of States, the next meeting of which will be held on 14 October 2022 in Astana, were approved.

The Plan of multilevel inter-MFA consultations within the CIS for 2023 and Action Plan for 2023-2024 on the implementation of the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of the CIS Member States for 2021-2030 were approved.

The Interstate program "Sports Capitals of the Commonwealth" was adopted. It is assumed that the status of the sports capital of the CIS will be assigned annually to one of the cities in turn in the Commonwealth states.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov, in his speech emphasized that the Uzbek side is interested in the further development of the CIS and the steady increase of its international authority.

At the same time, the importance of taking measures to adapt the Commonwealth to rapidly changing conditions, promptly responding to crisis situations and consolidating the efforts of the participating states to overcome them was noted.

A number of initiatives of the Uzbek side to improve the efficiency of interstate and interregional cooperation within the CIS were announced.

As a result of the event, a decision was made to hold the next meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS on 14 April 2023 in Tashkent.
