Topical issues of the new reality of the Central Asia region will be discussed in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 December, a conference will be held at the International Institute of Central Asia on the topic "Problems of regional security in Central Asia after August 2021" in Tashkent.

The event will become part of the School for Central Asia-2021 - an annual youth scientific and educational program of the A.M. Gorchakov. Its focus is invariably on the issues of the comprehensive development of relations between Russia and the countries of Central Asia.

Within the framework of three panel sessions, experts and participants of the conference "Problems of Regional Security of Central Asia after August 2021" will analyze the role of the Central Asian region on the geopolitical map in the emerging world order, discuss topical issues of regional security after the events of August 2021 in Afghanistan, and also present a view of the image the future of Central Asia.

School for Central Asia-2021 will be held in Tashkent from 13 to 17 December. The main topic of discussion this year will be security issues related to the changing situation in Afghanistan and neighboring countries. Participants will consider the whole range of problems in the region, learn how to conduct negotiations, moderation of conflicts, journalistic activities; will receive information on the main aspects of the development of the historical, cultural and political situation in the region, as well as the opportunity to communicate with leading experts, researchers and practitioners.

The Gorchakov Foundation’s partners in holding the event this year are the Information and Analytical Center of Moscow State University (IAC MSU), the Institute for Economic Strategies (INES), the International Institute of Central Asia (MICA) and MGIMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

The School for Central Asia-2021 bears the name of an outstanding expert, specialist in regional studies, a supporter of building friendly relations between Russia and the countries of the region, Sergei Masaulov, who died last year on the eve of the School-2020, which was canceled for this reason.

The School will be attended by young researchers in the field of international relations, political scientists, economists, lawyers, historians, journalists, young diplomats and representatives of government agencies.

The International Institute of Central Asia (MICA) is the only state research institution in the region, created by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The main tasks and directions of the Institute’s activities are interdisciplinary studies of civilizational diversity and modern processes of sustainable development of the region.
