Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 8 September, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sadyk Safayev and the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, co-chairman from the Russian side of the bilateral Commission for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Ilyas Umakhanov, who arrived in Tashkent as part of the delegation of the Russian Federation to participate in the 14th Summit of Women Leaders parliaments.

Umakhanov expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the members of the Russian delegation. He highly appreciated the organization of the Summit, which is a clear evidence of the recognition by the international community of the successes of democratic and socio-economic reforms carried out under the leadership of President Sh. civil society.

During the talks, the parties discussed the state and prospects for the development of Uzbek-Russian relations, including the expansion of inter-parliamentary contacts and the promotion of strengthening mutually beneficial trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the regions of the two countries.

There was also an exchange of views on upcoming bilateral and multilateral events with the participation of the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Russia.
