Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 August 2022, Viktor Makhmudov, Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with Amir Hassan, Secretary of the National Security Unit of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who arrived in our country to attend the 17th meeting of secretaries Security Councils of the SCO member states.

Topical issues on the regional agenda, including the Afghan problem, the state and prospects of interaction in the field of security, military and military-technical cooperation were considered.

Separately, the need to strengthen cooperation within the framework of the Uzbek-Pakistani Joint Commission on Security, which is an effective mechanism for coordinating the interaction between the security forces of the two countries, was emphasized.

A firm commitment was reaffirmed to expand practical cooperation in countering existing and new challenges, realizing the untapped potential of bilateral cooperation, including through the exchange of experience on addressing priority issues of strengthening security and stability.
