Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In accordance with the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On approval of the Investment Program of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 and the introduction of new approaches and mechanisms for managing investment projects" the implementation of a number of large investment projects by JSC "Thermal Power Plants" is envisaged.
In particular, it is planned to put into operation two combined-cycle turbines with a capacity of 900 MW at the Talimarjan TPP, two combined-cycle gas turbines with a capacity of 1300 MW at the Navoi TPP, as well as two gas turbines with a capacity of 32 MW each at the Tashkent TPP.
In addition, it is also envisaged to implement a number of projects aimed at creating a system for the safe and sustainable operation of existing power plants and their maintenance, modernizing equipment and providing spare parts with expanding the capabilities of service workers, and on this basis ensuring the reliability and high efficiency of electricity generation in Uzbekistan.
In this regard, at the Tashkent International Investment Forum, which began on 24 March, JSC “Thermal Power Plants” signed a number of profitable agreements with foreign partners.
Thus, an agreement was reached with the Japanese agency JICA on the delivery of spare parts and maintenance of operating modern combined-cycle plants for US$340 million.
Negotiations were held with the Italian company AC BOILERS S.p.A in February 2022 on the implementation of modernization in order to ensure the sustainability of traditional thermal power plants, increase the efficiency of the use of existing combined cycle turbines. As a result of negotiations within the framework of the forum, a memorandum was signed between JSC "Thermal Power Plants" and "AC BOILERS S.p.A" on increasing the production capacities of subordinate enterprises with the installation of "environmentally friendly" equipment.
