Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Law signed by the President of Uzbekistan on 15 February 2023 introduced amendments and additions to some legislative acts aimed at reliable protection of the rights and legitimate interests of convicts.

According to the amendments to the Law “On State Pension Provision of Citizens”, any work performed by convicts sentenced to deprivation of liberty during the period of serving a sentence in penitentiary institutions, if social tax was paid by the penitentiary institution during the period of performance of this work, is counted in the length of service upon appointment. pensions.

Also, criteria for determining the formation of convicts on the path of correction were introduced into the "Criminal Code".

The formation of convicts on the path of correction is determined by the commission based on the results of each quarter based on one of the following criteria:

the conscientious attitude of the convict to work, the implementation of established labor standards, the conscious formation of independent work skills, interest in learning and acquiring a profession;

participation of the convict in cultural and educational events organized in the institution for the execution of punishment, his initiative, the desire to be an example for other convicts;

observance by the convict of the established internal regulations of the institution for the execution of punishment, the application of incentive measures to the convict, the non-application of disciplinary sanctions against him.

The conclusion on the recognition of the convicted person as having embarked or not embarked on the path of correction is drawn up by the commission and attached to the personal file of the convicted person.

The law comes into force from the day of its official publication.
