Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In January-June 2022, in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the volume of construction work performed amounted to 60.32 trillion soums, and the growth rate compared to the corresponding period in 2021 reached 6.2%, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
In Uzbekistan, the construction industry is defined as a priority sector of the economy. The modern construction industry is one of the most prominent national sectors of the economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, illustrating a stable annual growth. The analysis carried out by sections in the construction industry showed that: - the construction of buildings and structures amounted to 66.9%, the growth rate, compared to the same period in 2021, reached 1.9%; - the construction of civil facilities was fixed at the level of 21.1%, and the growth rate reached 2.9%; - specialized construction works amounted to 12.0%, growth rates - 50.4%.
A significant part of the work was completed in January-June 2022 for the construction of new buildings and structures. Thus, 69.0% of the total construction work, or 41.62 trillion soums, were directed to the creation of new production capacities in the economy, housing and communal services and other social facilities.
In January-June 2022, high volumes were noted for new construction work in the context of regions, in particular in Tashkent city (9.35 trillion soums), Ferghana region (2.8 trillion soums), Samarkand region (2.77 trillion soums) and Bukhara region (2.75 trillion soums).
The share in the total volume of construction work performed by large construction organizations in the overall structure of buildings and structures amounted to 26.0% and, compared to the same period in 2021, increased by 2.3 p.p. The share of small enterprises and micro firms in this type of activity, compared with January-June 2021, decreased by 1.7 p.p. and amounted to 48.7%. The share of the informal sector, compared with January-June 2021, decreased by 0.6 p.p. and amounted to 25.3%.
The highest growth rates of construction work performed by the activity of buildings and structures were noted in Jizzakh region (30.6% compared to the corresponding period in 2021), Navoi region (20.1% compared to the same period in 2021), Syrdarya region (19.9 % to the corresponding period of 2021), Khorezm region (15.4% to the corresponding period of 2021).
The share of the volume of construction work performed by large construction organizations for the construction of civil facilities amounted to 25.0% and decreased by 3.3% compared to January-June 2021.
Also, the share of small enterprises and micro firms in the construction of facilities amounted to 74.9% (an increase of 3.3%), while the informal sector remained unchanged.
The highest growth rates of construction work performed by the type of activity, the construction of civil facilities, were noted in Samarkand region (161.6% compared to the corresponding period in 2021), Tashkent city (49.3% compared to the same period in 2021), the Republic of Karakalpakstan (9.2% to the corresponding period of 2021), Andijan region (7.3% to the corresponding period of 2021).
The share of the volume of construction work performed by large construction organizations for specialized construction work amounted to 19.8% and decreased, compared to January-June 2021, by 1.0%. Also, the share of small enterprises and micro firms in the construction of facilities amounted to 80.2% (an increase of 1.0%).
The highest growth rates of construction work performed by the type of activity of specialized construction work were noted in Namangan region (167.0% compared to the corresponding period in 2021), Tashkent region (119.1% compared to the same period in 2021), Tashkent city (68 .3% to the corresponding period of 2021), Surkhandarya region (63.0% to the corresponding period of 2021).
It is known that the volume of construction works is formed according to their composition, performed by large construction organizations, small enterprises and micro-firms, as well as by the informal sector
The volume of construction work performed by large construction organizations in January-June 2022 amounted to 15,12 trillion soums. Compared to 2021, in the period under review, the growth rate of construction work reached 108.7%, and their share in the total volume increased by 0.6% and amounted to 25.1%.
The highest share in the volume of construction work performed by large construction organizations was noted in Tashkent city (33.4% of the total volume of construction work in this region), Navoi region (19.8% of the total volume of construction work in this region) and Kashkadarya region (19.4% of the total volume of construction work in the region).
The volume of construction work performed by small enterprises and micro firms in January-June 2022 decreased, their share amounted to 58.0% of the total, which is 0.7% more when compared with JanuaryJune 2021. Thus, the volume of construction work performed by them amounted to 34.99 trillion soums and, in relation to January-June 2021, the growth rate reached 5.7%.
The largest volume of construction work performed by small enterprises and micro-firms in the period under review was noted in Tashkent city (8.63 trillion soums, or 59.5% of the total), Tashkent region (3.34 trillion soums, or 59.5%), Samarkand region (3.1 trillion soums, or 75.0%).
The share of construction work in the informal sector amounted to 16.9%, or 10.21 trillion soums, the growth rate in relation to January-June 2021 reached 4.3%, of which 7.5 trillion accounted for individual housing construction, growth rates compared to January-June 2021 reached 5.9%, construction of non-residential facilities by individuals amounted to 1.33 trillion soums, decrease - 9.7%, individual repairs reached 1.38 trillion soums, growth rates - 11.1%.
The largest volume of construction work performed by the informal sector in the period under review was noted in Bukhara region (1.33 trillion soums, or 32.4% of the total), Tashkent region (1.2 trillion soums, or 21.4%), Tashkent city (1.03 trillion soums, or 7.1%).
Construction work in the whole country, carried out by state organizations, reached 1.85 trillion soums, the volume of construction work performed by non-state organizations amounted to 58.47 trillion soums, and their share is 3.1% and 96.9% respectively.
The highest share in the volume of construction work performed by non-state ownership was noted in Surkhandarya region (99.8% of the total volume of construction work in this region), Jizzakh region (99.1% of the total volume of construction work in this region) and Samarkand region (98.2% of the total construction work in the region).
The analysis carried out by sections in the construction industry showed that: - the construction of buildings and structures amounted to 56.6%, the growth rate, compared to the same period in 2021, reached 103.2%; - the construction of civil facilities was fixed at the level of 11.6%, the growth rate reached 122.0%; - specialized construction works amounted to 31.8%, growth rates - 99.2%.
