Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov led a delegation from St. Petersburg on a visit to the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This is reported by the official website of the Administration of St. Petersburg.
Representatives of the delegation visited the Volgograd cemetery in Tashkent. Governor Alexander Beglov laid flowers at the Memorial of Military Glory and a commemorative plate dedicated to the Uzbek soldiers - the defenders of Leningrad.
During the visit, the delegation will visit Tashkent and Samarkand.
The governor is scheduled to meet with the Minister of Sports Development of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov, khokims of Tashkent and Samarkand region, and participate in a business forum.
Alexander Beglov will also meet with residents of besieged Leningrad living in Tashkent. In addition, he plans to take part in the stone-laying ceremony at the site of the future monument to the inhabitants of Uzbekistan, who received evacuees from Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War.
