The Uzbek delegation meets with the WTO Director-General
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. This was announced by the President’s Special Representative for WTO Affairs, Azizbek Urunov, on his LinkedIn page.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed all remaining issues related to Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, placing particular emphasis on intensified efforts to complete this process by the 14th Ministerial Conference, which will take place in 2026 in Cameroon, Urunov noted.
“She was informed about a recently adopted presidential decree aimed at ensuring export transparency, as well as other legislative initiatives. She highly praised the WTO-related reforms being implemented under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev,” he stated.
“In the current challenging circumstances, it is particularly important to highlight her leadership in advancing the multilateral trading system. Her commitment plays a significant role in facilitating the accession process for new countries,” Azizbek Urunov emphasized.
“We aligned our positions—she supports our efforts, and next year, we will continue moving forward at the same pace!” concluded the President’s Special Representative of Uzbekistan.
