The US imposes sanctions on three Uzbek citizens

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  The US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed sanctions on former officials from Uzbekistan accused of abusing girls in an orphanage in \ Khorezm region.

The sanctions list includes Yulduz Khudayberganova, Oybek Masharipov and Anvar Kuryazov.

Yulduz Khudayberganova, who worked as the head of a family-run orphanage in Urgench, forced the girls to have sexual intercourse with officials.

Oybek Masharipov, the former head of the Justice Department of the Khorezm region, and Anvar Kuryazov, the former head of the Emergency Situations Department of the Yangiarik district, had intimate relationships with underage girls.

The sanctions include blocking their property and property interests in the United States, as well as blocking organizations affiliated with them.

These measures were introduced on the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery.

Recall that in September 2022, the court found Khudayberganova, Masharipov, and Kuryazov guilty.

Khudayberganova was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison, and Masharipov and Kuryazov were sentenced to 1.5 years of restricted freedom.

However, in November 2023, their sentences were reviewed, and they were sentenced to three years in prison.
