The United States Intends to Deepen Economic and Trade Ties with Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov following the first session of the Ministerial Meeting on Critical Minerals, organized by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the U.S. State Department said in a statement.

During the talks, the sides reviewed the current state and prospects of the strategic partnership between the United States and Uzbekistan, with particular attention to ongoing cooperation in expanding economic and commercial ties for mutual benefit. It was emphasized that the development of trade and investment cooperation is considered a key factor in strengthening bilateral relations.

Christopher Landau and Bakhtiyor Saidov highlighted the importance of critical minerals in promoting economic growth and enhancing energy security for both the United States and Uzbekistan. The parties underscored the potential for collaboration in this sector given the growing global demand for strategic minerals.

The United States confirmed its readiness to further expand cooperation with Uzbekistan across several priority areas, including combating illegal migration, developing trade and economic relations, and intensifying engagement within the C5+1 diplomatic platform, which brings together the U.S. and the five Central Asian countries—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
