The third meeting of the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the Central Asian states and Russia takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 October 2020, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov took part in the third meeting of the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the Central Asian states and Russia in the format of a video conference.

The event was also attended by the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Mukhtar Tleuberdi, the Kyrgyz Republic - Ruslan Kazakbaev, the Russian Federation - Sergey Lavrov, the Republic of Tajikistan - Sirojiddin Mukhriddin and Turkmenistan - Rashid Meredov.

During the meeting, topical issues of further strengthening the interaction of the Central Asian countries and Russia in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, transport and communication, energy, migration, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in the field of security, environmental protection, ensuring sanitary and epidemiological well-being were discussed ...

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan informed the participants of the meeting about the measures being taken in our country aimed at effectively countering coronavirus infection, mitigating the negative consequences of the pandemic on the economy and the social sphere, ensuring employment of the population through the implementation of infrastructure projects in the regions, providing state support to enterprises and national exporters.

Special attention was paid to the issues of supporting the peace process in Afghanistan, an important factor of which is considered to be the further involvement of Afghanistan in regional trade and economic cooperation.

As a result of the event, the "Statement of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central Asian States and the Russian Federation on strategic directions of cooperation" was adopted.
