The Tashkent Forum of Women Leaders of the SCO Countries takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 April 2021, the Tashkent Forum of Women - Leaders of the SCO countries was held.

It was attended by members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, employees of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, scientists and experts from the SCO member states and representatives of the Republican Association of Women Scientists "Olima".

The participants discussed modern mechanisms for enhancing the role of women in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

During the forum, the importance and relevance of the Tashkent Forum, the mission of women leaders with a high level of intellectual wealth in the processes of democratic transformations of the modern world were noted.

The SCO countries have achieved significant results in the field of gender equality. In particular, all SCO members have ratified and are implementing the "Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women" and other legal documents and conventions on human rights.

Within the framework of the Tashkent Forum of Women Leaders, in the continuation and development of the ideas of the past forums, the following issues were considered:

- consideration of the mission of women as active participants in socio-political, socio-economic reforms in society;

- exchange of experience on the implementation of multispectral activities of women in ensuring the Sustainable Development Goals at the national and international levels;

- study of the current legal framework for the protection and provision of women's rights in the SCO countries within the framework of their social policy;

- analysis of the peculiarities of women's participation in the processes of mutual cooperation in cultural and public diplomacy in the SCO countries

- development of theoretical and practical conclusions on the issues raised.

The holding of this event will serve to stimulate the role of women in public life, to further deepen the interaction of the SCO countries in this direction.
