The talks of Uzbek and Kyrgyz Presidents take place in a spirit of mutual readiness

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At a meeting with representatives of the media, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted with satisfaction that the negotiations were held in a special, trusting atmosphere, were filled with the spirit of mutual readiness to jointly solve large-scale tasks based on mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests.

- We touched upon the whole range of bilateral issues of mutual interest. At the same time, priority attention was paid to expanding trade and economic cooperation. We agreed to take measures to further increase the volume of mutual trade. To this end, favorable conditions will be created for enhancing business contacts, new cooperation projects will be implemented in the field of trade, industry, agriculture, transport, infrastructure with a total value of over US$900 million. All of them were included in the newly adopted road map. I am sure that the creation of a joint investment fund will serve to promote these projects.

They also discussed the issues of enhancing interregional interaction - of course, a key factor in the Uzbek-Kyrgyz partnership. We agreed to hold regular meetings of khokims of border regions, agreed on specific projects and events.

The development of reliable and efficient transport corridors is crucial for the economies of our countries. First of all, we are talking about the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway, as well as the Tashkent-Andijan-Osh-Irkeshtam-Kashgar multimodal corridor. We agreed to take coordinated measures to promote these routes, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The heads of state reaffirmed the need to strengthen bilateral ties, primarily in the areas of trade and customs, investments, industrial cooperation, transport, water use, energy, ecology, cooperation between defense departments, the fight against terrorism and religious extremism, and the expansion of cultural and humanitarian exchange.

President Sadyr Japarov expressed satisfaction with the results of the talks, during which they exchanged views on a wide range of issues.

- Uzbekistan is one of the key trade partners of Kyrgyzstan. In order to intensify the entire range of bilateral cooperation, it was planned to hold meetings of interparliamentary and intergovernmental commissions, meetings of khokims and heads of administrations of border regions as soon as possible. We agreed to create favorable conditions for business representatives, to increase the volume of trade, the President of Kyrgyzstan said.

The heads of state also emphasized their mutual desire to give new dynamics to the development of cultural and humanitarian ties. Currently, about 300 thousand Kyrgyz citizens live in Uzbekistan. He has created all the conditions and opportunities for the preservation and development of the native language, culture and customs.

To strengthen friendship, the parties agreed to organize days of culture and cinema, youth forums, festivals and exhibitions. It is planned to allocate grants annually for training talented youth of Kyrgyzstan in priority areas in leading universities of Uzbekistan.
