Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 April 2022, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with senior officials (staffers) of executive offices, leading members of the Senate and House of Representatives, as well as key relevant committees of the US Congress, who arrived to our country within the framework of the program of the UN Foundation.
During the conversation, topical issues of Uzbek-American relations in areas of mutual interest were discussed.
The observed positive dynamics of inter-parliamentary relations, which is manifested in the organization of mutual visits of representatives of the legislative bodies of the two countries, and the creation of the “Caucus on Uzbekistan” in 2018, were noted with satisfaction.
The position and vision of Uzbekistan on the prevention of a humanitarian catastrophe in Afghanistan, as well as the integration of this country into international and regional economic processes, were brought to the attention of the American side.
The meeting was also attended by acting UN Resident Coordinator in Tashkent Munir Mammadzade and Vice President of the UN Foundation Peter Yeo.
