Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 October 2020, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain to Tashkent Tim Torlot.

During the conversation, the sides discussed the efforts of Uzbekistan and Great Britain for a peaceful settlement of the Afghan crisis, joint implementation of various projects in the country, including economic ones.

The British side highly appreciated the policy pursued by the leadership of our country to facilitate the peace negotiation process, the integration of Afghanistan into regional political and economic processes, which will contribute to the overall settlement of the situation in the country and the restoration of its socio-economic infrastructure.

A thorough exchange of views also took place on the priority directions of the Uzbek-British interaction on the Afghan settlement.

The parties expressed mutual interest in continuing bilateral consultations on the Afghan issue.
