Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Ambassador of Uzbekistan Vitaly Fen met with the chairman of the South Korean company "Hanshin Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd." Choi Jung Son, "Dunyo" news agency reported.
During the meeting, the progress in the implementation of investment projects being developed in Uzbekistan jointly with the company "Hanshin Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd." was discussed, and further measures for joint implementation were agreed.
At the beginning of the meeting, Choi Jung Son expressed gratitude to the Government of Uzbekistan for the constant support of the initiatives of South Korean companies that are interested in establishing long-term cooperation with partners in Uzbekistan. He noted the ongoing vigorous activity of a special working group headed by Chief Executive Officer Choi Moon Gyu, which was formed to promote investment projects in Uzbekistan. In the period from 2018 to 2020, thanks to joint efforts, a huge work was done to study the market, legislation and conditions for foreign investors in the republic.
Speaking about ongoing projects, Choi Young Son informed about the ongoing discussions on the construction of modern multi-apartment residential complexes on the territory of "Kokand City". It is planned to implement this investment project in the city of Kokand on an area with a total area of 34 hectares. Delegation of the company "Hanshin Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd." visited Ferghana region in November 2020 and conducted a detailed study of the situation of the domestic housing market, participated in meetings and negotiations with suppliers of building materials, design institutes, and also examined the territory allocated for this project. The head of the South Korean company said that he and his company intend to continue to fully promote this important project.
"Hanshin Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd." with the Ministry of Construction of Uzbekistan, the issue of creating a joint design institute in our country on the basis of Kishlokkurilishloyiha LLC, Toshuijoiliti JSC and Uzogirsanoatloyiha JSC is being worked out, which will become unique in the CIS. At present, the parties continue to exchange views on the scope of activity, the main financial and economic indicators of these three design and survey institutes. Choi Young Son assured that in the near future, specific stages will be considered for the possible acquisition by the South Korean side of a state share in the above design institutes.
Head of "Hanshin Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd." also drew attention to the project to create a modern golf complex of international class in Samarkand region for a total of US$800 million. It was planned to implement this investment project on a territory with a total area of 270 hectares by creating a modern golf course and residential premises for visitors (194 hectares), an international school (6 hectares), a shopping, entertainment and exhibition complex (7 hectares), a modern multi-storey residential complex ( 55 ha) and other adjacent infrastructure.
The concept of this project was presented in November 2019 to the khokim of Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov and the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade during the visit of the delegation of the company "Hanshin Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd." to Uzbekistan. According to the company’s management, the implementation of this project will significantly expand the tourism potential of Samarkand. Choi Yung Son expressed hope for receiving a positive response from the Uzbek side for the early start of construction work.
It was especially noted that these three projects are planned to be implemented through direct investments. Choi Young Son announced his decision to send a delegation led by the Chief Executive Officer of the company Choi Mun Gyu to Uzbekistan on February 12-19, 2021 to continue active negotiations with the Uzbek side.
Choi Yung Son stressed that he chose Uzbekistan to establish a long-term partnership. This choice was facilitated by the reforms and transformations carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. According to the South Korean partner, Uzbekistan has created all conditions for foreign investors and business. In addition, the results of the online summit held at the end of January 2021 once again showed the high level of trust between our leaders, as well as the growing interaction in the trade, economic and investment spheres. The Uzbek market opens up great opportunities for foreign investors, and the company "Hanshin Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd." will continue to actively promote investment cooperation with the republic.
