Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 October 2021, the sixth meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation was held. It is noteworthy that it is taking place within the framework of the participation of delegations of foreign countries in observing the presidential elections, which will be held on 24 October.

It was attended by Co-Chair of the Commission, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodyk Safoev, Co-Chair of the Commission, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Iliyas Umakhanov, as well as members of parliament, representatives of the ministries of the two countries.

Iliyas Umakhanov noted the importance of the upcoming political event and highly appreciated the organizational level of the process of preparing and holding the presidential elections in Uzbekistan.

In particular, the organization of a broad election campaign, early voting, which many voters outside the country, including in Russia, were able to take advantage of, was emphasized.

The parties discussed the state and prospects of further development and deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Also, the agenda of the meeting included issues of labor migration, education, as well as prospects for bilateral cooperation.

During the event, the participants also discussed the holding of the next meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, other issues included in the agenda were also considered.

As a result of the event, the Protocol of the meeting of the Commission for Cooperation of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation was signed.
