On 24 May, blogger Otabek Artikov in his Telegram channel published photos of pupils of boarding school No. 63. On display were photographs of schoolchildren in torn clothes, with bruises on the eyes and faces of some children. In addition, several children do the laundry.
“This situation is under the control of the Senate Committee on Science, Education and Health. The relevant departments have been given instructions on the legal consideration of this issue,” the press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan said on 25 May.
According to the press service of the khokimiyat of Samarkand region, the Head of the region Erkinjon Turdimov on 25 May got acquainted with the activities of a special boarding school in Akdarya district to investigate the incident. It is noted that a special working group has been created to further investigate the situation.
"Within a week, the regional administration will discuss the implementation of tasks to turn this institution into a prosperous place," the message says.
The Samarkand Regional Department of Public Education also reacted to this case.
As noted, labor contracts concluded with responsible persons who committed irresponsibility in the course of their activities were terminated in accordance with the current legislation. It is reported that detailed information will be provided based on the results of the investigation into the incident at the boarding school.
