The Senate of Uzbekistan strengthens labor guarantees for citizens.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The third plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis considered and approved a law amending the Labor Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

This law is aimed at further strengthening the labor rights of citizens and harmonizing national legislation with international standards, which has been a priority of government policy in recent years.

The law introduces several important innovations: the registration of labor contracts in electronic form through the interdepartmental hardware and software complex "Unified National Labor System," changes to the procedure for calculating the duration of unpaid leave, and the method for determining average wages.

The law also clarifies provisions in the "Education Law" regarding the types of educational institutions where employees can study in evening or correspondence formats. It establishes a direct ban on the dismissal of female employees due to pregnancy or having a child.

Additionally, state agencies and organizations will no longer have the right to require candidates to provide a passport, ID card, or labor book when applying for a job. All necessary information will be requested independently, including through interdepartmental platforms.

The adopted law aims to guarantee citizens’ labor rights, facilitate the transition to electronic document circulation in the labor sector, reduce cases of unjustified job rejections in government structures, and prevent excessive documentation collection from job applicants.
