The Senate of the Oliy Majlis intensifies cooperation with the League of Arab Parliaments

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met in Cairo with the Chairman of the League of Arab Parliaments, which unites 22 Arab states, Adel Al Asoomi.

During the meeting, issues of further intensification of cooperation between the Parliament of Uzbekistan and the parliaments of Arab states, in particular with the League of Parliaments of Arab States, were discussed.

Narbaeva supported the proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in order to strengthen cooperation between the Parliament of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Arab Parliament and expressed Uzbekistan’s readiness to qualitatively and meaningfully develop friendly and mutually beneficial relations with Arab countries in all areas.

In turn, Adel Al Asoomi stressed that the Association of Arab States, including the Arab Parliament, recognizing the leading position of Uzbekistan in Central Asia, is ready to further intensify cooperation in all areas, in particular inter-parliamentary cooperation. Thus, a proposal was put forward to hold a major economic forum in Uzbekistan with the participation of Arab business circles.

During the dialogue, measures were also discussed for the export of agricultural products of Uzbekistan to Arab countries and the effective solution of transport logistics issues.

In recognition of the high efficiency of the state policy pursued in Uzbekistan to ensure gender equality, an initiative was expressed to hold the first Forum of Women Members of Parliaments of Arab and Muslim Countries in 2023 in Samarkand.
