Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Today, on 25 June, the sixteenth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan began its work. This was reported by the press service of the Senate.

The senators considered the first issue on the agenda - the issue of improving the activities of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of ensuring openness and transparency in state bodies.

It was noted that the Action Strategy defines transparency in public administration, the introduction of modern forms of presentation of information on the rights and freedoms and legal interests of individuals and legal entities as an important direction of public administration reform.

In a short period of time, significant work has been done in this direction and positive results have been achieved. In particular, within the framework of the government portal, the Open Data Portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan was launched, which provides free and unlimited access to information for individuals and legal entities. In addition, dozens of electronic platforms have been launched, such as My Opinion, Open Budget, Government Procurement, and Transparent Construction. Official websites of state and public organizations of all levels have been created, which are constantly updated.

The senators stressed the need to explain to the people the process of changes and renewal in the country, the essence of large-scale reforms being carried out, saturation of the national information space with objective and reliable information, as well as information policy and transparency, systematic control, including parliamentary control.

During the meeting, the issue of creating a Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on information policy and ensuring openness in state bodies was considered. In addition, attention was paid to the tasks of this Committee.

The Committee coordinates and monitors the transparency of government bodies and organizations.

At the meeting, Senator Farhod Esanovich Bokiev was elected deputy chairman of this Committee.

A corresponding resolution of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was adopted on this issue.
