Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 March 2022, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming met with the newly appointed head of Uzbekistan's diplomatic mission to China, Farhod Arziev, at the SCO Secretariat.

Zhang Ming congratulated Farhod Arziev on his appointment to a high position and expressed confidence that his rich professional experience will further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation within the Organization, as well as consistently deepen bilateral relations between China and Uzbekistan.

The Secretary General noted that the priority in the activities of the Secretariat at the moment is to ensure the successful implementation of the events planned under the chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the SCO. “Particular attention is paid to the content of the upcoming SCO summit in Samarkand, ministerial meetings and other major events. The SCO Secretariat is ready to work together with the Uzbek side on draft documents being prepared and to promote the initiatives of various parties,” Zhang Ming emphasized.

In turn, Farhod Arziev congratulated Zhang Ming on his appointment as the SCO Secretary General and expressed his gratitude to him for the active work of the Secretariat aimed at holding the SCO CHS meeting in Samarkand at a high organizational and substantive level, and for his successful performance of organizational and coordination functions as in the field of practical cooperation within the Organization, and in the field of expanding international contacts of the SCO. The Ambassador informed about the preparations for holding meetings of the Council of Heads of State, the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Meeting of Secretaries of Security Councils, ministerial meetings and a number of thematic forums and conferences in Uzbekistan.

The Ambassador confirmed the readiness of the diplomatic mission for active cooperation with the SCO Secretariat on all issues aimed at further strengthening multifaceted cooperation.
