The rise of relations between Uzbekistan and Korea to a new higher level needs scientific support

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The rise of relations between Uzbekistan and Korea to a new higher level needs scientific support. First Deputy Director of of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan (ISMI) Akramjon Nematov made such a proposal during the expert forum "Uzbekistan - Korea: A look into the future", held on 23 August in Tashkent.

As the ISMI representative noted, the long-term experience of interaction between the two countries, as well as a number of successful joint projects, serve as a good basis for further deepening cooperation between think tanks and expert communities of Uzbekistan and Korea.

“Against this background, it seems appropriate to think about giving the expert dialogue a continuous character by launching a permanent dialogue platform in the format of a “Discussion Club” between experts from research centers of our countries,” he stressed.

According to him, regular lectures and seminars for specialists, organization of online meetings and face-to-face conferences on the most topical issues of mutual interest should be envisaged on its basis.

In this regard, Akramjon Nematov, in order to further expand the expert dialogue and make it inclusive, proposed to hold a Forum of Think Tanks of the Republic of Korea and five countries of Central Asia next year.

“The platform will serve as a good support for assessing the state of current cooperation and determining further development prospects with the development of specific proposals,” the first deputy head of the ISMI concluded.

The forum, organized by the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the assistance of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in partnership with the Secretariat of the Republic of Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum, is attended by leading experts and heads of think tanks, representatives of research and educational institutions two countries.
