Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The retail trade turnover in Uzbekistan in January-August 2020 reached 119.6 trillion soums and decreased, compared to the same period of 2019, by 2.2%, also the turnover of large enterprises made up 21.99 trillion soums (growth rates - 122.6%), and small business and private entrepreneurship - 97 608.1 billion soums (growth rate - 93.5%), including unorganized trade made up 7 058.9 billion soums (growth rate - 62, 4 %).
In the structure of the republic’s retail trade turnover, a significant share is noted in the city of Tashkent, which is 22.4%, or 26 840.1 billion soums.
The retail trade turnover in January-August 2020 reached 119 597.7 billion soums and decreased by 2.2% compared to the same period of last year. Compared to the corresponding period of the last year, in all regions, except for the Tashkent, Samarkand, Navoi regions and the city of Tashkent, there is a decrease in the growth rates in retail trade.
In the structure of retail trade turnover, the smallest share was recorded at the level of 1.9%, or 2 318.5 billion soums, which was noted in Syrdarya region.
Compared to the same period of last year, in Khorezm (90.0%), Surkhandarya (90.1%), Namangan (93.3%), Jizzakh (94.2%) and Ferghana (95.0%) regions observed slower growth in retail trade. Along with this, insignificant growth rates were noted in Navoi (100.4%) and Samarkand (100.7%) regions.\
In the structure of retail trade turnover, the turnover of large enterprises increased by 22.6% and reached 21 989.6 billion soums, which is 18.4% of its total volume.
The turnover of retail trade of small business and private entrepreneurship, according to statistical calculations, made up 97 608.1 billion soums and, compared to the same period of last year, decreased by 6.5%. The share of this sector in the republic in the retail trade turnover reached 81.6%.
The share of small business and private entrepreneurship, in comparison with other regions, was the largest in Kashkadarya (93.4%), Jizzakh (91.8%), Surkhandarya (91.2%) regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan (89.7%), Namangan (89.5%) and Ferghana (88.6%) regions. In the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of turnover of large enterprises made up 18.4% of the total sales, their main share was observed in Tashkent city (34.0%), Samarkand (21.7%), Navoi (19.6%) and Khorezm (17.8%) regions.
The retail trade turnover per capita in the republic for January-August 2020 averaged 3.51 million soums (compared to the same period of last year, it decreased by 4.1%). This indicator, in comparison with other regions, was recorded high in Tashkent (10.33 million soums), Navoi (4.58 million soums) and Tashkent (4.34 million soums) regions.
According to preliminary data from a survey of individuals, the turnover of unorganized trade in January-August 2020 made up 7.06 trillion soums and, compared to the same period of last year, decreased by 37.6%. Including the turnover of trade in dekhkan markets made up 3.93 trillion soums (a decrease of 26.9%), the turnover of trade in livestock markets was fixed at 3.12 trillion soums (a decrease of 47.4%)
According to preliminary data from a survey of individuals involved in the sale of agricultural products, poultry and livestock (grown and kept in personal subsidiary plots), conducted in January-August 2020, the trade turnover in dekhkan markets made up 3.93 trillion soums, livestock markets – 3.12 trillion soums.

High sales of fresh agricultural products reached 1.67 trillion soums.

The sale of livestock of different ages reached 2.47 trillion soums, sheep and goats - 567.0 billion soums, horses - 68.1 billion soums, birds - 17.2 billion soums.
In January-August 2020, the share of trade turnover of catering enterprises in the structure of retail trade turnover made up 2.4%, reaching 2.87 trillion soums, and decreased by 18.7% compared to the same period of last year. Of these, 83.6% of the trade turnover falls on the share of small businesses.
The turnover of catering in the period under review made up 2.87 trillion soums (compared to January-August 2019 - 81.3%), by forms of ownership: non-state – 2.79 trillion soums and state - 84.4 billion soums. Compared to the same period of last year, the turnover of catering enterprises of state ownership decreased from 5.0% to 2.9%.
According to preliminary data, in January-August 2020, the volume of wholesale trade reached 65.54 trillion soums and, compared to the same period of last year, the decrease was 5.6%. The turnover of wholesale trade of small businesses, according to statistical calculations, made up 46.05 trillion soums and, compared to the corresponding period of last year, decreased by 12.0%. The share of this sector in the wholesale trade turnover in the republic made up 70.3%.
The highest growth rates of the wholesale trade turnover of large enterprises, compared with last year, were observed in Tashkent city (189.6%), Samarkand (136.4%), Andijan (128.4%) and Surkhandarya (107.8%) regions.
In recent years, the role of the public sector in the total volume of wholesale trade has been steadily decreasing. So, for the reporting period, the share of this sector was fixed at the level of 0.1% of the total volume of wholesale trade. Wholesale trade turnover in January-August 2020 made up 65.54 trillion soums, including nonstate entities – 65.47 trillion soums, state entities - 75.2 billion soums.
The analysis of the share of wholesale trade by type of ownership showed that there is still a small share of state ownership in Tashkent (0.2%), Navoi (0.1%), Andijan (0.03%) regions. In other regions, wholesale trade is generally a non-state form of ownership.
