Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 4 January 2021, Uzbekistan will begin to issue identification cards (ID cards), which will replace the internal passport of a citizen.
To obtain an ID-card, the citizens need to have a passport, write an application and pay a state fee in the amount of 89% of the base calculated value (now 198470 soums).
After submitting the necessary documents, a citizen of Uzbekistan will receive an ID-card within one working day.
According to the document, the exchange of biometric passports of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, residence permits of stateless persons and citizens of foreign states for ID-cards will be carried out:
- at the first stage - from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2022, on a voluntary basis upon reaching the age of 16, as well as for other reasons provided for by law;
- at the second stage - from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2030, without fail.
About the terms of issuing ID-cards:
- for a newborn child up to one year old - for a period of 2 years;
- to persons aged 1 to 16 years - for a period of 5 years;
- from 16 years old - for a period of 10 years.
