Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – In line with the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan, the Regulation on the procedure for considering issues of citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan was approved.

According to the Regulation, petitions and applications on issues of citizenship of Uzbekistan are submitted:

- by a person residing on the territory of Uzbekistan - to the internal affairs body at the place of permanent residence;

- by a person residing outside the territory of Uzbekistan - to consular offices, as well as consular departments of diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan.

When the citizenship of the parents or one of them changes, at their request, the citizenship of a child between the ages of 14 and 18 may be changed only with his written consent.

A foreign citizen or stateless person permanently residing in Uzbekistan, who has reached the age of 18 and has legal capacity, can apply for admission to the citizenship of Uzbekistan in the general manner.

The application is examined within 3 working days.

Information within 3 working days is entered into the interdepartmental database "E-Fuqaro", and the materials are sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the main departments of internal affairs of the city of Tashkent and Tashkent region, departments of internal affairs of the regions.

In accordance with the fulfilled requirement, which has passed the check in the MDB "E-Fuqaro", a checklist is printed.

Based on the materials and the checklist, within a month, a conclusion is prepared, approved by the Minister of Internal Affairs or one of his deputies and, together with a generalized information certificate, are sent for consideration to the Commission on Citizenship Issues under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The regulation also establishes the requirements for admission to citizenship of Uzbekistan in a simplified manner.
