Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A memorandum of cooperation has been signed between the Phthisiatry and Pulmonology Center and the Moscow Scientific and Practical Center for Tuberculosis Control.

As part of this agreement, 20 medical professionals from Uzbekistan will participate in training on new surgical techniques with the involvement of Russian specialists. High-tech surgeries are also planned for 10 patients in the near future.

These surgeries are unique because patients suffering from urinary tract tuberculosis who have to use drainage systems permanently will be able to eliminate the disease through a single high-tech procedure. This will significantly improve patients’ quality of life and increase their trust in treatment.

In the future, thanks to international cooperation, the Phthisiatry and Pulmonology Center plans to introduce even more innovative treatment methods with the involvement of foreign specialists.

According to the World Health Organization, 10.8 million cases of tuberculosis were registered worldwide last year. Despite the increase in cases and the spread of drug-resistant forms of the disease, significant progress has been made in Uzbekistan in the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis.

The Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Phthisiatry and Pulmonology actively implements advanced technologies to save patients’ lives. The center also regularly conducts workshops with Russian colleagues, strengthening international medical ties and improving the level of medical care.
