The parameters of admission to universities, specializing in teaching foreign languages on the basis of a state grant., are tripled

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A resolution of the President "On measures to raise activities to promote the study of foreign languages in the Republic of Uzbekistan" to a qualitatively new level was adopted.

According to the resolution, from the 2021/2022 academic year:

teachers of foreign languages of educational institutions who have a national or corresponding international certificate of level not lower than C1 are paid an additional monthly surcharge of 50 percent to their base tariff rate;

all teachers of foreign languages working in general secondary, secondary specialized and professional educational institutions are allocated 1 million soums for the purchase of modern literature, textbooks and teaching aids.

In the 2021/2022 academic year, the parameters of admission to higher educational institutions specializing in teaching foreign languages will be doubled, and on the basis of a state grant - three times.

From the 2022/2023 academic year:

along with the delivery of state certification exams by graduates of higher educational institutions specializing in teaching foreign languages, the practice of determining the level of their knowledge at the expense of these educational institutions through national or equivalent to them other leading international assessment systems is established;

the procedure is being introduced for the participation of persons holding a national or an international certificate corresponding to it in the selection for a master's degree and in the specialty of postgraduate education of the universities.

From 1 July 2021, the practice of teaching employees a foreign language at least once a week is being introduced in state bodies with the involvement of teachers of educational organizations on a contractual basis.

From 1 January 2022, employees of all levels of government bodies who have a national and corresponding international certificate in foreign languages are paid an additional supplement in the amount of up to 20 percent of the official salary.

From 2022, knowledge of a foreign language is defined as a mandatory qualification requirement for an applicant when applying for work in state bodies and appointing to higher positions.
