The OSCE Online Conference "Effective Partnership Against Terrorism and Violent Extremism and Radicalization Leading to Terrorism" takes place

 

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 September 2020, an OSCE high-level anti-terrorism online conference was held on the topic: "Effective partnership against terrorism and violent extremism and radicalization leading to terrorism."

The event was attended by the OSCE Chairman-in-Office - Minister of European and Foreign Affairs Gent Chakai, Deputy Secretary General, Head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office Vladimir Voronkov, high-ranking representatives of the OSCE participating States.

During the conference, issues of strengthening international and regional cooperation in the field of combating terrorism in the context of enhancing the role of civil society and the private sector in this area were discussed.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov acted as the main speaker at the conference, who acquainted the participants with the achievements of our country in the field of countering terrorism and extremism.

In particular, it was noted that Uzbekistan for over 10 years did not allow the commission of a single terrorist act on its territory. More than 20 terrorist attacks were prevented in close cooperation with partner special services in the CIS space.

It was emphasized that in the field of ensuring security, including for foreign tourists, Uzbekistan for the third year in a row takes a leading place in the ranking of the safest countries.

The measures taken by the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of combating terrorism were highly appreciated by the participants of the event.
