Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The National Program for the Development and Support of the Culture of Reading in 2020-2025 was approved by the Governmental resolution.

One of the priority directions for the implementation of the Program is the high-quality publication of books that meet the spiritual, educational, artistic and aesthetic requirements of the population, first of all, youth, assistance to the activities of publishing houses and creators, and support for the publication of children’s literature.

The program will be implemented in the following 3 stages:

the first stage is the implementation of measures to improve the organizational and legal mechanisms for the development of a reading culture in 2020-2021;

the second stage - strengthening the infrastructure of reading culture in 2022-2023;

the third stage is the accelerated development of a culture of reading among young people, an increase in the quality of human capital through the growth of their intellectual potential in 2024-2025.

According to the resolution, the "Week of Reading" will be held annually in the first days of April.

Also, according to the "Roadmap" for the implementation of the Program in 2020-2021, it is planned to develop a draft regulatory document to improve the issues of payment of royalties to writers by publishers.
