Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov made a presentation at the International Conference "International and Regional Cooperation in the Field of Border Security and Control to Combat Terrorism and Prevent the Movement of Terrorists" in Dushanbe.
The attention of the forum participants was drawn to the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to unite the efforts of the world community in the fight against global and regional security threats.
In particular, the conference participants were informed about the proposal of the Head of our state regarding the creation of a single electronic network on cyberterrorism in Central Asia, designed to promote the development of the exchange of experience and data, research and best practices in this area.
The successful implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in the region requires the strengthening of mechanisms for constant monitoring and critical assessment of the implementation of the Joint Action Plan, coordination of interaction between the countries of Central Asia. In this regard, the importance of implementing the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on opening an office of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office in the region was emphasized, ensuring its close interaction with leading specialized international and regional organizations.
Today, the Internet is becoming a tool for spreading radical ideology, recruiting people, providing financial support, planning and committing terrorist activities. In this context, the proposal of the Head of our state on building the capacity of the countries of Central Asia in the field of effective countering the use of digital technologies for terrorist purposes is of great importance.
Information was presented on the work carried out by the republic to return its citizens from conflict zones, their rehabilitation and reintegration into society. The readiness of the Uzbek side to exchange experience with other UN member states in this direction was reported. Attention was focused on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the establishment, under the auspices of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office, of a regional Expert Council from among the leading specialists of the countries of Central Asia, the main tasks of which will be to improve programs for the rehabilitation and reintegration of citizens, to develop proposals to combat the propaganda of terrorism.
The most important condition for successful countering terrorism and extremism is an effective youth policy. The launch of the Dialogue of Generations proposed by the President of Uzbekistan will serve as a better understanding between people of different ages, a joint search for solutions to urgent problems of youth. V. Norov informed about the readiness of our country to hold the first such meeting within the framework of the Youth Leaders Forum in Samarkand in April 2023.
The attention of the audience is drawn to the idea of the Head of our state to hold a high-level International Conference "Enlightenment and Religious Tolerance" next year in order to identify promising areas of cooperation in promoting the ideas laid down in the special UN resolution of the same name, adopted at the initiative of Uzbekistan. This event also organically fits into the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, in which the promotion of ideas and principles of tolerance, mutual respect, interreligious and intercultural dialogue with the participation of all sectors of society takes a key place.
