Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Recently, a number of media, with reference to the Ombudsman of the Republic of Kazakhstan for human rights, Elvira Azimova, reported that 18 foreigners remained under arrest in Kazakhstan after mass riots in January this year, including 14 citizens of Uzbekistan.

To clarify this fact, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Nur-Sultan sent a corresponding note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan with a request to provide full information about the arrested citizens of Uzbekistan, their places of detention, the reasons for bringing them to justice, and also to organize a consular meeting with them for employees of the diplomatic missions of the Republic Uzbekistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Nur-Sultan, as well as the Consulates General in Almaty and Aktau are in constant contact with representatives of law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan on the ground.
