The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan commented on cases of detentions of citizens at UAE airports
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Akhror Burkhanov, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, addressed reports concerning difficulties faced by Uzbek citizens when entering the United Arab Emirates.
According to him, there has been a significant increase recently in the number of complaints regarding prolonged inspections and detentions experienced by Uzbek nationals upon arrival at international airports in the UAE. As a result of these procedures, many of our compatriots often have to spend extended periods of time in the terminals.
Akhror Burkhanov noted that Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions in the UAE are actively working to resolve the situation. The embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate general in Dubai maintain constant contact with immigration and other relevant authorities in the UAE, conduct systematic monitoring of the situation, and engage in continuous negotiations aimed at ensuring the most prompt and unhindered entry of Uzbek citizens into the country.
He emphasized that the Uzbek side is making every effort to promptly address issues as they arise on-site. At the same time, work is underway to identify the root causes of the delays and inspections, which will not only help understand the problem but also prevent its recurrence in the future.
To assist Uzbek citizens, representatives of the republic’s diplomatic missions regularly stay at UAE airports, providing necessary support and assistance to their compatriots, concluded the spokesperson.
