Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov held talks with the General Director and Chairman of the Management Board of Rosgeology Sergey Gorkov on 27 February 2020. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

The meeting was held as part of a one-day visit of the Rosgeology delegation to Tashkent. The program also included a meeting with the chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Geology and Mineral Resources Bobir Islamov, the leaders of the Institute of Mineral Resources, Uzbekgeofizika JSC and IGIRNIGM JSC, in the framework of which the Agreement of intentions for cooperation in the field of subsurface use for effective the use of mineral resources for the development of the economic potential of the regions of Uzbekistan between JSC Rosgeologiya and Goskomgeologiya of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

As the Minister of Energy A. Sultanov noted during the negotiations, “the Agreement signed today and the areas identified by it will give a new impetus to cooperation between Rosgeology and the Ministry of Energy, will contribute significantly to the strengthening of the mineral resource base of hydrocarbons in Uzbekistan, and the creation of conditions for improving the quality of energy supply to the regions ".

“As part of the joint work, it is planned to assess the resource potential and analyze the structure of hydrocarbon reserves of the Republic of Uzbekistan in order to increase production rates, as well as introduce modern methods and technologies for basin, geological and hydrodynamic modeling of oil-gas-promising territories, as well as a set of measures search and evaluation of missed deposits, taking into account the experience and existing developments of JSC “Rosgeologiya”. This is important for the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan, based on the tasks to conduct a complete inventory of industrial raw materials and geological hydrocarbons in the Republic, in accordance with international requirements,” A. Sultanov said.

The Minister of Energy also noted the great promise of cooperation in organizing training programs and internships for Uzbek specialists at the enterprises of Rosgeologiya JSC regarding issues of modern methods and technologies for basin, geological and hydrodynamic modeling of oil-gas-promising territories and other relevant areas.

During the negotiations, the parties expressed mutual interest in the speedy implementation of the agreements reached and in building up the pace of practical cooperation.

In October 2018, Uzbekneftegaz JSC and Rosgeology JSC signed an Agreement on cooperation, including in the field of geological exploration in Uzbekistan. The signing took place within the framework of the State visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan.

The agreement envisages development of a joint exploration program in the Republic of Uzbekistan, exploration in the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan and neighboring countries, the implementation of joint investment projects in the early stages of exploration and exploration, including in third countries, the exchange of geological information and data of mutual interest in the development of new methods for prospecting and exploration of hydrocarbon deposits, as well as the exchange of experience in the field of geophysical work and drilling of parametric wells.
