Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 November 2020, a meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in the format of a videoconference, chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.
The main part of the meeting was devoted to the exchange of views on topical issues of economic interaction in the CIS, including taking into account the epidemiological situation in the countries of the Commonwealth and the world.
The heads of governments approved the Action Plan for the implementation of the first stage of the CIS Economic Development Strategy for the period up to 2030. The plan covers the period from 2021 to 2025 and contains 29 sections devoted, in particular, to trade and economic cooperation, industry, the fuel and energy complex, transport, communications and informatization, the agro-industrial complex, monetary policy, and the labor market.
A number of preliminarily agreed documents on various areas of activity were signed without discussion.
These, in particular, include programs related to cooperation in the field of atomic energy use for peaceful purposes, in the field of innovations, improving the quality of life of war veterans - participants in local conflicts and their families.
Two agreements were signed regulating interaction in the field of cross-border transportation of radioactive materials and digital development of society, and two concepts were approved - interregional and cross-border cooperation and cooperation in the field of agricultural engineering - along with action plans for their implementation.
In addition, the Action Plan for the implementation of the Strategy for ensuring transport security in the territories of the CIS member states in the implementation of international traffic for the period 2020-2025 and the Plan of priority measures in the field of humanitarian cooperation of the CIS member states for 2021-2022 were approved.
Documents were also signed concerning the development of joint air defense systems and control and assessment of the radiation, chemical and biological situation of the defense ministries of the Commonwealth countries.
Traditionally, a large block of documents submitted for signing by the heads of governments refers to the issues of financial support for the activities of the bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
It was decided to hold the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Minsk on 28 May 2021.
The participants in the CIS CST meeting highly appreciated the organizational work carried out under the chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan for its preparation and conduct.
