Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Government resolution approved the Regulations on the Ministry of Sports Development.
In accordance with the Regulations, the Ministry of Sports Development is subordinate to the Cabinet of Ministers and ensures the implementation of a unified state policy in the field of sports.
One of the main tasks of the Ministry is to prepare promising athletes for successful participation in the Olympic and Paralympic, Asian and Para-Asian Games, World Championships, Asian and Para-Asian Championships, and other international competitions and tournaments.
The Ministry also promotes the development of the activities of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, the National Paralympic Committee of Uzbekistan, sports federations and associations, and other non-governmental non-profit organizations in the field of physical culture and sports.
The Ministry includes the following universities:
- Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and Sports and its branches in Fergana and Nukus;
- branch of the federal state budgetary educational institution of higher education "Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports, Youth and Tourism" in the city of Samarkand.
The regulation defines the rights and responsibilities of the Ministry, its status, and the procedure for financing.
The Ministry was created by the Decree of the President from 18 February 2022
