Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the plenary session, another important draft document was discussed aimed at further developing and strengthening multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey based on mutual respect, friendship and trust, as well as at effectively protecting the rights and interests of our compatriots in penitentiary institutions in Turkey.
The draft law "On the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the transfer of convicts" was considered
This Agreement was signed during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the Republic of Uzbekistan on 29-30 March 2022, which envisages the creation of an opportunity for citizens of the other contracting party who are serving sentences in penal institutions of one of the contracting parties to serve their sentence or the rest of it in their country.
According to the deputies, the convicts serving their sentences in their own country allows them to see their close relatives regularly. This has a positive effect on family relations, and also facilitates the adaptation of convicts to the social life of society.
The bill on ratification of the agreement was adopted by the Legislative Chamber and sent to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
