Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the twentieth plenary meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Law "On Amendments and Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with improving the system of protecting the rights of persons suffering from drug addiction diseases" was also considered.
After a comprehensive study of the Law with the participation of specialists and experts from the relevant ministries and departments, the senators came to the conclusion that the document should be completely revised.
The fact is that the Law does not disclose the essence and content of the provision on "involuntary treatment" introduced into the Law "On the prevention and treatment of drug addiction diseases" and does not describe its distinctive features from the concept of compulsory treatment.
It was also considered necessary to develop separate grounds and mechanisms for compulsory and involuntary treatment for committing administrative offenses in a state of intoxication with psychoactive substances.
In addition, it was established that there are shortcomings in the procedure for applying to the court with a request for involuntary hospitalization.
It is also unclear who pays or is exempt from paying the state fee when going to court, and in general, it is not specified who pays the state fee.
Considering the importance of public relations regulated by the Law, the senators considered it expedient to revise it, approach it comprehensively and improve it.
The law was rejected by the senators.
