The law "On transplantation of human organs and tissues" comes into force

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President of Uzbekistan signed a law on transplantation of human organs and tissues.

The document defines the goals and conditions for transplantation, its objects, the range of donors (living and deceased), the rights of the donor and recipient, the conditions for the removal of organs and tissues.

The Law does not apply to transplantation of organs and tissues related to human reproduction (eggs, sperm, ovaries, testicles or embryos), autogenous (living donor and recipient are one person) transplantation of organs and tissues, as well as relations in the field of blood donation and its components.

The objects of transplantation may be human organs and (or) tissues taken from a living donor or a human corpse, the list of which is determined by the Cabinet of Ministers.

The law defines the powers of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Health in the field and transplantation of human organs and tissues.

Removal and transplantation of human organs and tissues are carried out by medical institutions of the state healthcare system, the list of which is determined by the Cabinet of Ministers.

The removal of organs and (or) tissues of a person after his death is allowed if his lifetime notarized written consent is available.

The law establishes the rights and obligations of a living donor and recipient. 

In order to control the use of human organs and (or) tissues, as well as the prompt provision of medical care to persons in need of transplantation, the Unified State Register of Donors, Recipients, and Human Organs and (or) Tissues is being created.
