Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the ninth plenary meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On establishing the Day of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan" was considered.
It was noted that a trade union is a voluntary public association of citizens bound by common professional interests by the nature of their activities or studies, created in order to represent and protect their labor, other socio-economic rights and interests, acting on the basis of its own charter
The Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan unites more than 32.5 thousand primary organizations in 14 sectoral trade unions, which have 5.5 million members, including 2.5 million women and more than 2 million young people under the age of 30.
The Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Trade Unions" gives these structures additional rights. Trade unions have the right to participate in the development of socio-economic programs, to submit their opinions on issues of employment, labor protection in the form of submissions to state bodies.
The new Law establishes 11 November as the Day of Trade Unions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, further strengthening the solidarity of workers in the system that unites millions of representatives of our people.
Currently, the country has 25 holidays, of which 9 are weekends, and 16 are professional holidays, which are celebrated without providing rest.
Such holidays are celebrated in Austria, USA, Greece, Indonesia, Canada, Latvia, Singapore, France, China, Switzerland, as well as in the CIS countries, for example, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
