Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At a plenary session of the Senate, the Law "On drinking water supply and wastewater disposal" was discussed.

By this Law, the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services is defined as a specially authorized state body in the field of drinking water supply and wastewater disposal, the Inspectorate for Control over the Use of Drinking Water under the Ministry and its territorial inspectorates - bodies exercising state control in the field and their powers are established.

The right to demand compensation from the drinking water supply organization for half of the amount recognized by the court as an unreasonable payment for services is granted.

In addition, the Inspectorate for the Control of the Use of Drinking Water is given the right to collect compensation from persons for the discharge of sewage contaminated in excess of the norm.

The law provides that drinking water is supplied by transport to supply drinking water to areas where there is no drinking water supply organization network, in case of accidents in pipes and structures, carrying out repair and restoration work on drinking water supply networks in emergency situations.

Thanks to the implementation of this Law, an effective legal framework will be created aimed at sustainable development of the sector and improving the quality of services, preventing losses of drinking water due to malfunctions, preventing cases of illegal connection of consumers to drinking and waste water pipelines, achieving the introduction of open and equal mechanisms between consumers and service providers.

The law was approved by the senators.
