Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- First Deputy Chairman of the Korean-Uzbek Business Association (KUBA) Kim Chang Keon visited Syrdarya region and held a meeting with regional governor Gofurjon Mirzaev.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Seoul, during the meeting, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the planned project for the recycling of car waste and discussed other issues of economic cooperation.
During the negotiations, Gofurjon Mirzaev expressed special gratitude for the transfer of three cars to Syrdarya region by the CCI of the city of Hwaseong of South Korea for the needs of people with disabilities, which took place thanks to the support and cooperation of KUBA. He also noted that the successful implementation of the waste disposal project would be a good incentive to attract South Korean companies to the region, and also promised to provide all kinds of support from the regional khokimiyat in order to develop cooperation between the two countries.
In turn, Kim Chang Keon assured the Uzbek side of official support from KUBA in order to implement the waste disposal project as soon as possible, and also announced plans for an official visit of a delegation led by the khokim of the region to South Korea to visit and conclude agreements on friendly relations with representatives of municipal governments, holding a business forum with the participation of representatives of the business circles of the two countries.
The representative of KUBA noted that such joint events will strengthen cooperation not only between the Association and the khokimiyat of Syrdarya region, but by joint efforts the parties will be able to make a significant contribution to the development of economic cooperation between the two countries.
The car waste recycling project is planned to be implemented on the basis of a consortium, which will include four South Korean companies. The total investment from the South Korean side will amount to 3 million US dollars, from the khokimiyat of Syrdarya region, a production area with partial infrastructure will be provided.
At the end of the meeting, Kim Chang Keon expressed hope that this project would make a significant contribution to the development of the environmentally friendly waste processing industry in Uzbekistan, Dunyo news agency reported.
