Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 February, at 22:40, due to the danger of snow avalanches, the Kamchik pass was temporarily closed for the movement of vehicles, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
After the closure of the pass due to heavy snowfall, spontaneous snowfall was observed on several sections of this route. Thanks to the timely decision of the Republican Interdepartmental Headquarters to close the pass, no one was injured as a result of the avalanches.
All this time, under the coordination of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, specialized structures, work was carried out to eliminate the risk of repeated avalanches. Drivers and passengers who, after the closure of the pass, ended up in the intermediate territory, were assisted in transporting their cars to a safe place. During this time, heating points for everyone were working in several locations of the pass.
In addition, by the decision of the Republican Interdepartmental Headquarters, several additional bilateral railway trips were organized for people waiting for their transportation on both sides of the pass.
The most important work was done on the forced descent of avalanches. With the help of the forces and means of the Ministry of Defense and the coordination of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 5 snow-covered mountain slopes were secured. It should be noted that representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Guard, the Ministry of Defense, Uzhydromet, Uzbekiston Temir Yollari, Kamchikavtoyul and other structures took part in the process of eliminating the danger of avalanches under the leadership of the Minister for Emergency Situations A. Kh. Kuldashev.
Traffic on the Kamchik pass was restored at 21:00.
